‘He’s okay’ – Postecoglou provides update on in-form Spurs player who was ‘sore’ against Everton

Ange Postecoglou has revealed following Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Everton that Richarlison had a ‘sore back’ from the previous day’s training session and played down the severity of the issue.

It was yet another goal-scoring performance from the Brazilian number nine who seems to be finally finding his feet at Spurs following his return from surgery.

The 26-year-old has scored four goals in his last three appearances for the club. to improve upon his record just five goals in Premier League 48 appearances prior to the fixture in a Spurs shirt (Transfermarkt).

Ange Postecoglou himself praised Richarlison earlier this month, speaking to Sky Sports, calling him a ‘goalmouth monster’ and highlighting the positive attitude that he was showing in training.

Postecoglou provides update on Richarlison

Richarlison was forced off during the second half of the win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against his former side yesterday on the hour mark and the Australian admitted his early departure a pre-planned move.

Speaking about Richarlison’s back issue, Postecoglou told Football London: “Yeah, he’s okay. He’s kind of had a sore back yesterday in training. He wasn’t 100 per cent, but he was keen to start today. He got through the game.”

“Pleasing for him that he took his goal well and worked hard for us, but I kind of knew that at some point we’d have to take him off, but I don’t think it’s anything serious.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s been a long time coming but Richarlison is getting to his best in front of goal and was at the right place at the right time to cap off a wonderful move against Everton.

I do not see Spurs considering any move for Richarlison in January. It would make absolutely no sense to sell him just when he is peaking for us and Heung-min Son is set to depart for the Asia Cup for as many as six weeks.
