‘Had their issues’ – Chris Sutton shares close score prediction for Preston vs Spurs

Former Premier League striker turned pundit Chris Sutton has revealed his score predictions for the weekend’s FA Cup action, and tells the BBC that Spurs will be too much for Championship side Preston to handle.

Tottenham have not been enjoying the best time of it lately, but bounced back from a disappointing run of results to claim a cagey but all-important win over high-flying Fulham on Monday night. Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game to give Spurs all three points.

Spurs go into the FA Cup fourth-round tie with aspirations of going all the way in this year’s tournament to finally end that long trophy drought. Antonio Conte’s men beat League One side Portsmouth in the third round with a tight 1-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

They travel to Deepdale on Saturday evening to face Preston North End. The home side were comfortable winners over fellow Championship team Huddersfield in the previous round, securing a 3-1 win to progress. Preston are currently in 11th place in the Championship.

It’s the battle of the Lilywhites on Saturday, but Sutton believes only one side will come out on top and make it through to the next round.

He said: “Preston have had some good results this season but my old team Norwich schooled them on their own patch in their last home game. I just don’t see them beating Tottenham, mainly because I think Harry Kane will start for Spurs… and probably score for them too.

“Antonio Conte’s side have had their issues recently but they played well at Fulham on Monday and they will be too streetwise to suffer a shock result at Deepdale.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I’d like to think we have more than enough to overcome Preston, even as the away side. As long as we start strong and don’t let them get into the game early doors, we should win this game, though the Championship side will definitely look to make it difficult for us.
