A Hamburg SV board member has now shed light on the chances of the Bundesliga club retaining Luka Vuskovic’s services from Tottenham for next season.
Vuskovic has been putting up elite numbers this season, which are comparable to the best centre-backs in European football.
Some of the biggest clubs in Europe have taken note of the Tottenham defender’s impressive performances in what is his first taste of football at the highest level.
As his loan spell at HSV draws to a close, the youngster’s future appears to be up in the air, and the Bundesliga club have now spoken about their chances of hanging onto the player.

Hamburg ‘dreaming’ of extending loan agreement with Tottenham for Luka Vuskovic
There have been claims that the young Spurs centre-back wants to extend his stay at Hamburg for one more season so that he can play with his brother, Mario, who is currently serving a suspension for doping.
Back in March, HSV sporting director Claus Costa appeared to rule out the possibility of Vuskovic extending his stay.
However, the club’s board member, Eric Huwer, has now indicated that the Bundesliga club have not lost hope that the 19-year-old will return next season.
When asked if Hamburg can retain the services of Vuskovic, Huwer told Welt (as relayed by Sport Witness): “We always dream. But the realities of the market are, of course, quite different. If it were up to Luka, I think he would still like to experience the Hamburg atmosphere, the passion, and the development. But we’re at best in the passenger seat. If the door opens even a crack, we’ll be there.”
Spurs making plans to tie Vuskovic to a new contract
The likes of Bayern and Liverpool have reportedly explored a move for the Spurs defender, but several sources have backed Vuskovic to become a regular starter for Tottenham next season.
The Croat has played down talks of leaving N17, and it appears that the Lilywhites are taking steps to ensure they do not lose their defensive starlet.
According to a recent update by The Sun, Spurs are ready to offer Vuskovic a new bumper contract in an attempt to fend off interest from the European elite in the teenager.
