‘Happy to play’ – Spurs star sends message to fans after return from injury

Giovani Lo Celso has admitted his delight at getting some minutes under his belt in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday.

Lo Celso has had a couple of different injuries since Antonio Conte arrived at Tottenham at the start of November and the midfielder has thus not got any significant game time under the Italian.

Some sources from Spain had suggested a couple of weeks ago that the Argentine wished to return to his former club, Real Betis, in light of his struggles under Conte at Spurs.

However, Lo Celso recovered from his calf problem ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Vicarage Road on Saturday and was named on the bench.

The midfielder came on for Sergio Reguilon in the 83rd minute as the away side were pushing bodies forward in search of a winner.

Spurs eventually got their winner in stoppage time as Davinson Sanchez met Son Heung-min’s vicious free-kick with a header from close range.

Lo Celso has taken to social media to express his delight at helping Spurs get all three points against the Hornets.

Spurs Web Opinion

Lo Celso needs to stay fit for the rest of the season if he is to build any sort of momentum, which he has been unable to do due to injuries over the last 18 months or so.

I certainly do not expect the midfielder to be sold in January but he will have to prove his worth to Conte in the second half of the season if he is to stay at the club for the long term.
