‘Hard to call’ – Mark Lawrenson shares West Ham v Spurs score prediction

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League fixture against West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side come into the game on the back of a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League, admittedly having made eleven changes to the starting eleven which beat Newcastle United last weekend.

The Hammers comfortably swept aside Belgian outfit Genk in the Europa League in their European tie, with David Moyes deciding to play a considerably stronger first team.

Lawrenson believes that Tottenham will be held to a score draw at the London Stadium.

He told BBC Sport: “West Ham got a really good win at Everton last week in a game I had a feeling they would nick.

“Tottenham’s revival continued at Newcastle, where their quality came through after a difficult start and Harry Kane got off the mark in the Premier League.

“This one is hard to call. I don’t think there will be much between them on Sunday, or come the end of the season.”

“Lawro’s prediction: 1-1.”

The Tottenham players need to build on last weekend’s win at Newcastle in what is going to be a hostile environment at the London Stadium given the fact that this fixture is their cup final.

West Ham are no longer the laughing stock they used to be, having finished above Spurs last season and are only a point behind Nuno’s side in the Premier League table.
