Harry Kane breaks another Tottenham and Premier League record in 3-1 defeat

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane broke yet another Premier League record this afternoon, despite the Lilywhites falling to a 3-1 defeat (SportsIllustrated).

Kane picking up individual accolades while the team crumble around him has been a familiar theme of the season for Tottenham, with a number of key stars falling short of their high standards.

Despite his poor record from free-kicks, a little roll of the ball from Dejan Kulusevski was enough to set Kane up for a beauty into the top corner to get the game going in the North London sun.

That made it 30 goals in all competitions for Kane this season, with 28 of those coming in the Premier League. The record broken today was the number of goals scored in across a single season.

Previously held by Mo Salah, who scored in 24 separate games in the 2017/18 campaign, Kane has set a new record by scoring in 25 Premier League matches this season, even more than Erling Haaland‘s 23 (so far).

Spurs Web Opinion:

There is still a chance that Haaland could break the record and make the number 26 by the end of the season, and Kane still has one game left himself. But that stat itself doesn’t really matter, it’s just yet another example of the gap between Harry’s standards and Tottenham’s.
