Harry Kane has noticed one key similarity between Bayern Munich and Tottenham

Speaking after the Champions League game against Arsenal this week, Harry Kane has compared his Bayern Munich side to the Tottenham Hotspur team that went all the way to the final of the competition in 2019.

Kane has had a fairly frustrating season in his first year away from Tottenham. Despite scoring 39 goals this term (Transfermarkt), he has been unable to help Bayern dominate the Bundesliga as they normally do.

Bayern Munich are way off the pace in the league, with Bayer Leverkusen set to secure the Bundesliga title. But, the German giants are still going strong in the Champions League and played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates on Tuesday night.

Kane was on the scoresheet against Arsenal once again, converting a penalty coolly in front of the Gunners fans.

Kane sees similarities between Spurs and Bayern

This campaign has got Kane reminiscing about the good old days at Spurs, with the England captain comparing the situation at Bayern to the excellent run in the Champions League he enjoyed under Mauricio Pochettino back in 2019.

He told the press (via Football.London): “That campaign itself is similar because we weren’t having a great time in the league if I’m totally honest that year, but we found some passion and togetherness in the Champions League and we managed to get to the final and of course, we didn’t manage to win it but that gives me hope.

“That experience gives me hope that we can find that again, we know we can perform in the big games, perform in the big quarter-final at home next week and try to get back to the final. Being at Wembley is also extra motivation for me personally being my national stadium and it’s still there to try and achieve.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The game against Arsenal was the first time I’ve watched Kane properly since he left, and although it was strange to see him playing for another team, I found myself really wanting him to do well. It probably helped that he was against Arsenal, though.
