Harry Kane looks over at Tottenham in jealousy due to ‘crazy’ yellow card rules

Harry Kane has been speaking about his one-match suspension, which could mean that he misses out on the win that confirms the first trophy of his career. The former Tottenham star admits he wishes the rules in the Bundesliga were the same as they are in the Premier League.

Kane’s much-talked-about ‘trophy curse’ is now certain to end, with Bayern Munich only needing a draw at RB Leipzig to be crowned Bundesliga champions.

However, the centre-forward, who has been an indispensable part of the club’s march to the title, could miss out on the game that will see the Bavarian side crowned champions.

Kane picked up a yellow card for a cynical challenge he made in their 3-0 win over Mainz on Sunday. That was the fifth yellow card of the season, which means that the striker has incurred a one-match suspension.

Kane admits frustration with Bundesliga yellow card rules

After having waited so long to lift a trophy, the 31-year-old would have undoubtedly wanted to be out there on the pitch to celebrate the winning moment with his teammates.

Kane is frustrated that his yellow cards from the start of the season have come back to cost him and admitted that he would like to see the Bundesliga implement a similar rule to the Premier League.

In England, there is a cut-off date halfway into the campaign, which means that from that point on, a player needs to accumulate 10 yellow cards to be suspended.

Kane told SportsBild after the Mainz win: “That’s why I’m really disappointed that I got the yellow card because, of course, I knew I already had four. And secondly, I think the rule is crazy anyway. Five yellow cards in 34 games means a suspension. That’s crazy.

“They should be re-regulated like in the Premier League. I’m missing an important game because I received a yellow card in the first game of the season. That doesn’t make sense. Maybe they should reconsider that for the future.”

Tottenham fans will be delighted to see Harry Kane lift a trophy

While Kane will not be on the pitch at the Red Bull Arena this Saturday, he will be backing his teammates to get the job done.

Most Tottenham fans will be delighted to see the England captain finally get his hands on silverware, which he has thoroughly deserved.

The former Spurs man will be hoping that the first trophy shatters a proverbial glass ceiling and is followed by a spate of medals over the next few years.
