Tottenham Hotspur let a two-goal lead slip yet again yesterday as they took on Olympiacos in the first Champions League group stage game of the season.

Despite starting the match poorly, Spurs managed to sneak a 2-0 lead in the first half through a Harry Kane penalty and a fine Lucas Moura finish.

However, the script followed the exact same pattern as the Arsenal match at the Emirates earlier this month, as Tottenham conceded just before half-time.

Spurs then came out in the second period and made the same old mistakes all over again, conceding a second goal early on in the half through a penalty.

The match ended up 2-2, with Spurs having to make do with a single point from the opening night when it should have been so much more.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich breezed to a 3-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in the other group game.

Harry Kane made an honest admission about Spurs making the same errors as five years ago (BBC): “You can see why the manager is frustrated.

“He has been here for five years now and we are still making similar mistakes as we were the first year.

“We are not young any more, we are not inexperienced, we have played in big games for club and country.

“We have to try to find a way to get around it and improve and get better. That is all we can try to do.”
