Harry Kane names his favourite ever teammate and it’s not a Spurs player

In a recent social media Q+A, Harry Kane revealed his favourite ever teammate and it may come as a surprise that he didn’t pick a Spurs player.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker celebrated the ten-year anniversary of his Premier League debut for the club on August 18, 2022. To mark the occasion, Kane took to Twitter and Instagram to interact with fans and discuss his career to date.

Kane has spent the majority of his career in North London, registering 249 goals for the club along the way (Transfermarkt). The star striker has played alongside some incredible players in his time at Spurs, like Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, and Heung-Min Son.

The last of those names has forged a formidable partnership with Kane in the Spurs attack, and the pair hold the record for the most Premier League goal combinations (PremierLeague.com).

With this in mind, you would be forgiven for assuming that Son would be Kane’s favourite ever teammate. Turns out, Kane’s answer to that question didn’t involve a Spurs player at all.

Kane was asked his favourite player to play with, and shared the answer on his Instagram story (18/08/22). Turns out, the England captain preferred to play with a fellow national team legend – Wayne Rooney.

The two strikers crossed paths at an interesting time in both their careers, with Kane making his debut for England in 2015. By this point, Rooney had begun to come towards the end of his international career.

Kane and Rooney actually only played in one major tournament together, at Euro 2016, a tournament which didn’t last very long for England.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Kane’s connection with Heung-Min Son is undeniably his most successful on-field partnership, it’s likely that Kane sees Wayne Rooney as the biggest and most iconic player he has shared a pitch with. To be fair, Rooney would have been at the peak of his powers just as Kane was beginning his path to greatness, and to play alongside one of your idols must be a special experience.
