Harry Kane names Liverpool player as the best Premier League player he has faced

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has come up against some difficult opponents during his 265 appearances in the Premier League.

The Spurs marksman has named Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk as the best player he has squared off against in the English top flight.

Kane labeled the Dutchman as a fantastic defender and praised how consistent he has been for Liverpool over a number of years and has picked up where he has left off after recovering from his knee injury which saw the 30-year-old sidelined for nine months (Sky Sports).

Tottenham travel to Anfield in early May where Kane will be looking to get one over Van Dijk, who missed the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium due to Covid (ESPN) earlier this season in which the England captain scored the opening goal in the 2-2 draw.

Kane told Amazon Prime Video Sport (1:27): “Van Dijk’s a fantastic defender. He’s been consistent now for Liverpool over many years. Obviously, won the Premier League and the Champions League. Tough defender, he’s been doing great this year after his injury last year.”

Kane has often come up short in his battles against Van Dijk, notably the Champions League final, and must look to deliver at Anfield if Spurs are still in the equation of a top four finish this season.
