Harry Kane provides detailed foot injury update ahead of England vs Senegal

Harry Kane has revealed that his foot is feeling fine ahead of England’s World Cup clash against Senegal.

The Three Lions captain injured his foot during the second half of the Group B opener against Iran and was seen with light strapping on the limb in the media mixed zone following the 6-2 victory (Ornstein).

Kane was substituted soon after the heavy challenge but has featured in the subsequent games against the USA and Wales which saw them finish top of the group to set up the round of 16 tie against Senegal.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker is yet to find the back of the net in the tournament as he looks to retain the Golden Boot he won in 2018, but has certainly been proving his worth as a playmaker.

Ahead of the fixture, Kane, who accompanied manager Gareth Southgate at today’s press conference insisted that his foot is fine and is improving every day.

The 29-year-old admitted that he is now looking to add goals to his game and insists he is remaining calm despite not opening his account.

Kane told the press conference as quoted by Dan Kilpatrick’s Twitter account: “My foot feels fine, no problem at all. It’s been getting better day by day & now I almost don’t feel it at all which is great.

“Form wise I feel like I’m playing well. Goals are what I’ll be judged on most but as always I’m calm, focussed on doing my best for the team.”

Kane is more than a pure goal scorer which is why it would be unfair to compare him to the likes of Kylian Mbappe. England will be hoping he can score against their African opponents and go on a rich run of form as they look to lift the trophy for the first time since 1966.
