Harry Kane reveals how many goals and assists he is aiming for this season

Harry Kane has admitted that he has now set himself the target of registering 20 goals and 20 assists this season following the blistering start he has made to the campaign.

While Kane has always been near the top of the goal-scoring charts since his breakout season in 2014/15, the Tottenham striker has now also become the side’s creator in chief.

He already has a whopping eight assists in eight league matches this season, which is comfortably higher than any other player in the division.

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry is the only player in Premier League history to register 20 goals and 20 assists in a single campaign, with the Frenchman netting 24 times and setting up another 20 in 37 games during the 2002/03 season.

Kane admitted that he is now eyeing Henry’s record after the start he has made to the campaign. The striker told his former Spurs teammate Andros Townsend in the ITV Football Show Podcast: “It wasn’t something I was really thinking about.

“I think this season, the final product [the passing] has been a lot better and I think we have been finishing the chances a lot better.

“But I have always dropped into that number 10 role. I always played as a 10 as a youth team player and backed myself as a passer, a player who can switch the ball and have different aspects to his game.

“Now that I am on eight assists and seven goals then I am starting to think ‘of course it would be amazing to then get to 20 assists’ or whatever the aim maybe.

“Yes, it’s been great for me. It’s been good to hear people speak and give you praise about all parts of your game. But for me, whether I score or assist, it doesn’t really bother me.”
