Harry Kane shows his Tottenham colours with comment about Chelsea and Arsenal

Harry Kane admits that he is extra motivated to do well against Chelsea and Arsenal in the Champions League, given his Tottenham connections.

Spurs do not have a Kane reunion in the Champions League, having been kept apart from Bayern Munich in the league phase draw, but the England captain will return to London.

The Bundesliga giants take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on 26 November, and the Tottenham legend will certainly know what kind of atmosphere to expect.

More immediately, Kane’s focus was on Wednesday evening’s clash, with Bayern opening their Champions League campaign against Chelsea at the Allianz Arena with a 3-1 victory. The former Spurs striker scored two of those goals against his old London rivals.

The Bayern Munich star has started the season on fire, having scored ten goals and provided three assists in six matches across all competitions.

Kane is the all-time record goalscorer in London derbies, and given his Tottenham connections, he has been looking forward to putting the Gunners and the Blues to the sword once again.

When asked if it is particularly special to play those two sides, given his Tottenham connection, the England captain said (via The Mirror): “I think playing against a Premier League opposition there’s always maybe a little bit more expectation around the game.

“Obviously, maybe the Chelsea fans don’t like me as much, and obviously, Arsenal fans don’t like me as much. But that makes me want to play better, that motivates me. There’s going to be some familiar faces that I’ve played against, some that I’ve played with in England.

“All those things added, it just brings a little something special around the game. I think being at the Allianz, having an English team here, as a team we like to try and stamp our authority on the game, and we’ll try and do that tomorrow. But like I said earlier, we’re playing against a very good side, so we have to be at 100 per cent.”

Could a Kane return to Spurs be on the cards next summer?

Kane’s contract at Bayern has a release clause which drops with each transfer window, and there have been suggestions that this could be his last season with the Bundesliga giants.

Several sources have claimed that Kane could return to the Premier League following the 2026 World Cup.

Tottenham added a first refusal clause when they sold Kane to Bayern, and the Lilywhites would thus have an advantage over other suitors if the striker does decide to leave Bavaria.
