Harry Kane to undergo ankle scan after picking up knock against Iran

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will undergo a scan on his ankle ahead of England’s match against the USA on Friday, according to The Athletic.

The 29-year-old was hacked down during the Three Lions’ World Cup opener against Iran inside the first three minutes of the second half by Morteza Pouraliganji and could be seen clutching his right ankle.

Gareth Southgate brought off his captain in the 75th minute in place of debutant Callum Wilson and Kane was seen limping through the mixed zone after the game with strapping around his ankle.

After the match, Southgate played down fears of any issues (The Sun) but will now undergo a further assessment prior to the clash against the USA.

Tottenham fans will be hoping that Kane’s issue is nothing too serious and he is able to continue through the tournament safely to be able to take to the pitch when the Premier League campaign resumes on Boxing Day at Brentford.
