Harry Kane urges Spurs to be like Chelsea and Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur, or more Harry Kane, gave themselves a lifeline in the Champions League on Tuesday night after snatching all three points with two late goals.

PSV took the lead after just a minute on the clock after they headed the ball home from a corner.

The Dutch league leaders then defended for their lives for the next 75 minutes, with Tottenham working over 25 shots on goal.

Just when it looked as if it wouldn’t be Tottenham’s day, Harry Kane latched on to a knock down from Llorente and fired home with his left foot.

It was the captain again who was ready and waiting for Ben Davies’ late cross, as his header deflected against two PSV defenders and trundled over the line.

Spurs desperately needed all three points from the game to stay in touch with Inter Milan.

Tottenham must now beat Milan by two goals at home before picking up three points away to Barcelona.

Harry Kane has urged his side to channel shades of Liverpool’s Istanbul heroics and Chelsea’s Munich victory as they fight for survival.

The Mirror report he said: “The Champions League has thrown up some amazing fairytales in the past.

“When I watched Chelsea against Barca they looked as though they had no hope and they ended up getting through somehow and winning the final. Liverpool were 3-0 down in the final and won, so sometimes things are meant to be.

“I’m not saying that this is going to be our year, but this win gives us that little bit more belief that we can get through the group and that’s the next step for us.

“That’s all we can try and do. If we can do that we’ll be ready to fight in the knockout stages.”
