Harry Redknapp was pleased with Tottenham’s performance in the 3-0 win against Hull City in the final of the Premier League Asia Trophy.

Sky Man of the Match Robbie Keane (Modric will felt hard done-by) bagged a brace, including one from the penalty spot after Defoe went over in the box – along with a late finish from Aaron Lennon meant that Spurs finished the tournament without conceeding a goal.

Redknapp said: “It was good.  The boys played well in both games, they performed well and that was good.  We’re off to Hong Kong now for another game.  It has been a hectic schedule, but they’ve coped as well as can be expected and they’ve done great.

“I thought Wednesday we played excellent against West Ham and today again we played some good stuff at times.

When asked about the upcoming match in Hong Kong, Redknapp added: “We’re going to give all the lads who haven’t had a game and give a few of the boys a rest obviously.  They’ve had a tough schedule with two games at Wembley, three games in Asia.  It has been a very tiring time for them here.  It is not ideal, but we’ll cope with it.”

  1. Well done, Spurs.

Does anyone know what is happening to Bentley, Dos Santos, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Gareth Bale and Andros Townsend? Are they in the squad in China? Or playing with their playstations at home?

  2. Well…Bale is injured and Dos Santos just played in a tournament so has probably been given a rest. Don’t know about any of the others.

  3. Bale is injured. Bentley’s recovering from injury. Dos Santos has just finished playing in the Central America Cup for Mexico (where he won the Most Valuable Player award). Townsend isn’t listed as a first team player (and within the youngsters and reserves, Rose is clearly ahead of him for that position… seeing how Rose was in China but Townsend wasn’t).

As for Boateng? Hard to say, but he never made the trip to China so mustn’t be in contention for a first-team place this season. Livermore looks a better bet anyway (IMO).

  4. Townsend is playing in a tournament for the England U-19’s if he wasn’t I’m sure he’d be out there with the first team.

  5. Mexico also has a vital World Cup qualifier against the USA on August 12, so I doubt Dos Santos will be back for a while.
