Harry Redknapp and Arsenal legend pick their favourites in race for fourth

Harry Redknapp has backed Tottenham to claim fourth place in the Premier League, with even former Gunner David Seaman concurring they will finish ahead of Arsenal.

Spurs have clawed their way back into contention for a spot in next season’s Champions League, winning five of their last six league games.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have suffered a small blip, with their chances being dented by back-to-back defeats to Crystal Palace and Brighton.

It means Antonio Conte’s side sit three points ahead of the Gunners in the table, although the Lilywhites have played one game more than their North London counterparts.

And both teams’ contrasting form has led ex-Spurs manager Redknapp to side with his former club in the race for fourth.

He told the Seaman Says podcast: “Tottenham look to me now like they’re going to get that [fourth] spot.

“It’s changed in the last couple of weeks with Arsenal having a couple of bad results. I couldn’t believe how poor they were [against Crystal Palace].

“I think Chelsea will probably just about hang on to third. But Tottenham are in good form suddenly. Harry Kane, Son [Heung-min], they look decent at the moment.”

Arsenal icon Seaman also admitted that Spurs are currently in pole position and shared his frustration at seeing Mikel Arteta’s side lose out to Brighton last time out.

He added: “I was really disappointed with Arsenal. The Palace game can go either way, but the Brighton game, I was in shock almost

“Tottenham are in form now and certainly look favourites. I know Arsenal have still got a game in hand but we haven’t got the points. We’ve got Tottenham, West Ham, Man United [all to play].”

Spurs Web Opinion

While things may have changed in the way of Spurs right now, it is still all to play for with plenty of points left to play for.

It has been a strange season with a few twists, so we cannot rule out more happening before the end of the season – especially with both Spurs and Arsenal still to face each other.
