Harry Redknapp reveals who will win next season’s Champions League

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has given his opinion on who he thinks will win next season’s Champions League.

Redknapp took Spurs to the quarter final stages of the prestigious European competition for the first time in the club’s history since it was reformatted as the Champions League before being knocked out by Real Madrid 5-0 on aggregate.

Mauricio Pochettino bettered Redknapp’s efforts this season when his side were unexpected finalists against Liverpool, but came up short in their quest to be called champions of Europe for the first time in their history when they suffered a 2-0 loss in Madrid.

Redknapp believes that the upcoming season will also see an English club lift the trophy when Manchester City win the competition for the first time.

Pep Guardiola’s side were considered as one of the front runners last season but were knocked out by Tottenham at the quarter final stage on away goals after a dramatic second leg at the Etihad.

Redknapp told BetVictor: “I really feel this next few years, the Champions League is going to be made for the English clubs.

“We’ve got Man City next year, I fancy them next year. I think it’s their turn to win it.

“If I had to have a bet now on next year’s winners, I’d want to be with Man City.”

“I mean the two semi-finals were two of the great games we’ll ever see,” Redknapp added when asked about Liverpool and Tottenham’s displays in the final four this season.

“The Barcelona game, that Liverpool performance, was just amazing, then Tottenham coming back in the second half against Ajax was incredible as well.

“I look around now, and I really can see us dominating for the next few years.

“I think it looks to me that Real Madrid are in decline, Barcelona don’t look what they were, Liverpool showed they are nothing to fear.”

Opinion

Unfortunately, Spurs were unable to take the most of the opportunity to win the Champions League; given how competitive the competition is, who knows if we will ever have the opportunity to make it to the final again.
