Redknapp interested in Russian job – agent

Harry Redknapp could be prepared to take over as the new coach of Russia, according to the former Tottenham manager’s agent.

Redknapp parted company with Spurs last month and has been shortlisted by Russia as a possible replacement for Dick Advocaat.

A Russia Football Union statement read: “The Russian Football Union has officially informed that the organisation plans to consult, in full compliance with the rules of FIFA and UEFA, the appointment of the head coach of Russian national team, with the following experts: Rafael Benitez, Anatoliy Byshovets, Marcelo Bielsa, Valery Gazzaev, Josep Guardiola, Fabio Capello, Andrei Kobelev, Yuri Krasnozhan, Marcello Lippi, Valery Nepomnyashchy, Nikolai Pisarev, Harry Redknapp, Yuri Semin.”

His agent, Phil Smith, is quoted as saying by the Russian media: “Would Harry have a problem coming to Russia? No. He’s ready to go and live in any country, especially as big as Russia.

“I think such an offer would definitely interest him if it came, but so far, we haven’t heard anything about it.”
