King: Spurs players want Redknapp to stay

Ledley King - Tottenham Hotspur Football News

Ledley King hopes Harry Redknapp snubs England and remains in charge at Spurs.

The Tottenham skipper has praised Redknapp for the work he has done since taking up the reigns at White Hart Lane but wants the gaffer to remain at the club.

Ledders has urged for focus until the end of the season and rightly so – we don’t want this speculation to derail our hopes of a title push or finishing in the Champions League spots.

There is no doubt in my mind that Harry will move onto take up the England position in the summer – but it would be a disaster if we were to lose our manager and not be comforted by the fact that he has lead us once again into the Champions League.

King told the press when asked about Redknapp’s future: “As a group of players we love him and hopefully he will stay.

“This sort of speculation always happens in football, but we would love to keep him.

“Harry has brought the club on massively. We were bottom of the league when he first came in and the results picked up immediately.

“Straight away he showed his people skills, his ability to lift players even when their confidence was low.

“He has gone from strength to strength, brought in some good players, experienced players who know what it takes. It has been really good.”

“We need to keep our focus until the end of the season. What will happen in the summer will happen,” he added.

“I am pretty sure the gaffer will be here until then.”

  1. Ledley speaks honestly and from the heart being one of the longest serving players at the Lane. Harry has like he said turned this Club round big time. Of course if Arry was to take on the England job then we would all wish him well. But I would so love him to stay and take us further onward and upwards. Fingers crossed Arry stays!!!

  2. Harry is sure to leave at the end of the season. Who wud take over? Who can maintain the style that we play? Mourinho looks to leave Madrid. He has great people managing skills, just not a fan of his style of playing at times. But i honestly can't see anyone else doing it. Maybe Hiddink?

  3. Harry is not very bright in taking up this job, we've got only alright players as regards an English side and what will happen is that he'll qualify us for the last stages but then we'll get pissed around the q.f stage. Dont think anything is going to change because its not, Its like the scum thinking they can win the Champions league, theres no way they can and the same for England. So what Harry is doing is taking a trip down nightmare memory lane. If Capello couldn't get them going Harry certainly won't , they may play more for H but guts can't replace skill. Like wilshere is a player who'll be in the side=nuff said?

  4. I cannot really understand why media and some english people wnat to take him over right now.
Is it because Spurs are on top of their Premier League history or is it because the hasn't been an englishman on this position since 2007 when Steve McLoser got kicked.
To me Harry is like a Coaching-legend for this team who has to complete his wonder.
Everything he reached is a CL quarterfinal which has been clearly lost against one of the best teams in the world. Yet.

  5. Who wouldn't want a ludicrous pay for a part-time job that is the England Manager post? Harry is not young any more. But on the flip side, he knows England won't win any thing major, until a Bobby Charlton is reborn.

He has unfinished business here. Really a point to prove. Anything less than the BPL title is not important since he's won the FA Cup with Portsmouth. Levy has to promise him the core won't be sold aka Modric & Bale. If that 60m were a real promise, we can have several runs at Europe again.

  6. Cant image how dull life would be for an international manager after premier league management. A few days a year on the training field with players who rather have their hearts in their clubs, and then sitting watching matches every weekend. maybe with his heart problem this is the answer for our Harry.
