‘Harry will know very soon’ – Former Spurs boss has transfer advice for Kane

Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has suggested that Harry Kane should wait and see what the club does this summer before deciding whether he wants to stay.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Kane’s future this summer with the striker being linked with the likes of Manchester United (Daily Mail), Real Madrid (Diario Madridista), Juventus (Tuttosport), and PSG (AS).

However, reports over recent weeks suggest that he is likely to stay put at Spurs (Manchester Evening News).

Some pundits have claimed that the striker might need to leave North London in order to take the next step in his career (BBC’s Football Daily Podcast).

Sherwood feels that the 26-year-old should make the decision on whether to stay or leave depending on the ambition the club shows in the transfer market.

The former England midfielder suggested that Kane will know in the coming weeks if the club harbours ambitions of challenging for the title.

When asked what advice he would give to Kane regarding his future, Sherwood told the Daily Mail: “It’s like Alan Shearer. He finishes fourth with Blackburn (in 1992-93), then second (in 1993-94). Manchester United are all over him.

“But he decides to stay, because he believes we have the quality to win it, and we did the next season. Harry needs to assess this himself. I would wait to see what they do in the summer.

“They’ve got a manager who has not gone there to only finish inside the top four. Harry will know very soon if the club are willing to spend that money to give themselves that opportunity of winning the league.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is ridiculous to suggest that Kane would assess the club’s ambition based on our activity this summer as no club including us is going to be in a position to spend big money. However, I am sure that Jose Mourinho would have privately told the players that they are good enough to win the Premier League title next season.
