Harry Winks reacts to Gareth Bale return and makes Tottenham trophy claim

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Harry Winks has now reacted to the signing of Gareth Bale on loan this summer, with the Welshman joining up at the weekend.

Of course, Winks has been a Spurs player for many years, but the midfielder was just a young boy in the academy when Bale left for Real Madrid back in 2013.

Winks revealed that such a signing has given the squad a boost, especially after everything Gareth Bale has won in his career, including four Champions League titles.

The academy graduate went on to claim that Tottenham now had to ensure that they started winning trophies of their own.

The Lilywhites have now gone over 12 years without a piece of silverware, with their last victory coming in the 2008 Carling Cup Final over Chelsea.

Winks was speaking ahead of Tottenham’s latest Europa League qualifier against Macedonian side Shkendija, a competition Mourinho will be looking to win for a third time.

Winks said (Football London): “To have Gareth coming back to Tottenham after what he’s done it gives everyone a boost and yes with the squad we’ve got now we need to be winning trophies.”
