Alasdair Gold reveals Spurs are set to pocket a sizeable fee for midfielder’s exit

Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have agreed on a deal worth £10m with Leicester City for the transfer of Harry Winks.

It is now clear that James Maddison is on his way to Spurs after the North London club agreed a £40m deal with the Foxes, with The Evening Standard reporting on Wednesday morning that the attacking midfielder is expected to have his medical at Hotspur Way soon.

The publication also revealed that Winks is expected to head in the opposite direction to the King Power Stadium in a completely separate deal.

Leicester’s interest in the Spurs midfielder was also subsequently backed up by The Athletic, who stated that the 27-year-old is also on the wishlist of several other English clubs as well as teams across the continent.

Harry Winks will cost Leicester City £10m

However, the outlet explained that he is attracted by the project at the King Power Stadium, which is why the Foxes are the front-runners for his signature.

Gold has now taken to social media to suggest that Winks is now set to seal his move to the Midlands club. The journalist claimed that Leicester will pay £10m for the Tottenham academy graduate.

He wrote on Twitter: “Terrific couple of deals for Spurs. They’re getting James Maddison for £40m and Harry Winks is heading to Leicester in a separate deal for £10m.

“Maddison is the perfect fit for Postecoglou and Winks should do really well at Leicester and help them in their bid to get back up.”

£10m is a decent fee for Winks, given how his career has nosedived over the past three years. There is no doubt that the 27-year-old is too good for the Championship but getting regular football under his belt at the King Power Stadium next season will do his confidence a world of good.
