Harry’s greatest hope

London’s Evening Standard reports that Harry Kane hopes to become Tottenham’s greatest striker after netting his ninth club hat-trick in last night’s 3-0 victory against Cypriot side Apoel.

Harry’s perfect treble was just the tonic for Spurs as Apoel’s aim to frustrate were succeeding culminating in Davison Sanchez almost inadvertently putting it in his own net after Hugo Lloris abject clearance cannoned of the Colombian and trickled past the post as Spurs laboured against their resolute hosts.

After a goal-barren barren August, Kane is on a golden streak this month and the legendary Glenn Hoddle enthused on BT Sports about the hitman, saying he could become the the best in the club’s hidtory.

“Thank you and hopefully,” Kane told BT Sport in following Hoddle’s comments.

“It’s great praise you know, I’ve just got to keep doing what I’m doing.

“I’m still young, I’m feeling good, I’m feeling sharp every day now I’ve just got to do the same. Try and help the team, try and run hard for the team and of course just try and get the goals.”

Kane also admitted that he is focused on winning important trophies for Spurs.

“Of course [I am focused on big trophies with Tottenham],” he added.

That is always the aim – any player will tell you that – that is what they want to do, win Premier Leagues, win Champions Leagues and win FA Cups so that is what we’ve got to try and do.

“So, as I say we’re six points out of two games and we have just got to try to push forward, [Real] Madrid next and we’re looking forward to that one.” h
