‘Has to be the end’ – Pundit notices something about Harry Kane’s body language vs Wolves

Based on Harry Kane’s body language against Wolves, Tony Cascarino has suggested that this is going to be the striker’s final season at Tottenham.

Tottenham’s defeat at Wolves and Liverpool’s subsequent thumping win over Manchester United on Sunday came as a bitter blow to the North London club’s hopes of finishing in the top four.

Although reports over recent weeks have indicated that Spurs are hopeful they would be able to tie Kane down to a new contract (Football Insider), failure to qualify for the Champions League would certainly make their task a lot more difficult.

Several publications have indicated that the 29-year-old is one of the names on top of Man Utd’s wishlist as Erik Ten Hag looks to add a new centre-forward to his squad (Telegraph).

Cascarino has now said that it looks increasingly likely that the England captain might be on his way out of his boyhood club in a couple of months.

The pundit told talkSPORT: “Everyone is going to talk about Kane between now and the end of the season.

“Where does he go with Spurs? If they get the fourth spot it will be by default, because other teams have just been worse than them.

“It doesn’t feel like anyone deserves that fourth spot right now. I don’t know what you do with Kane. If you’re a football club, how do you move on from Harry Kane?

“It feels like you’re losing so much, and yes they would be a poorer team but, watching Harry yesterday, it does feel like, and he’s had these periods during this season, even though he’s got lots of goals, it feels like it just has to be the end, the last season he’s going to represent Spurs.”

When asked if he expects Tottenham to finish fourth, Cascarino responded: “It’s touch and go for them.

“I’m not sure they are good enough. Earlier on in the season, I said they are a hard watch. At times that is not exactly correct.

“They have had some real ding-dong games as well, thinking of against Leeds at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“But there are a number of performances where you come away and think, ‘this team, top four?’ No, I don’t think so.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Finishing in the top four is likely a prerequisite to convince Kane to commit his future to the club.

I do not think any Spurs fan will begrudge the striker a move if he decides that the time has come for him to seek new pastures in the summer.

If that does happen, it might be time for Tottenham to bring Pochettino back to the club and use the money from the striker’s sale to rebuild the squad.
