Some Tottenham fans on social media were left mightily impressed with Cristian Romero’s performance against Aston Villa and have called for Nuno Espirito Santo to start him in every game.
Romero has not managed to nail down a consistent place in the starting eleven since his move from Atalanta over the summer.
On the back of his impressive showing in the Europe Conference League against NS Mura on Thursday, the Argentine started alongside Eric Dier on Sunday.
Tottenham’s centre-back pairing coped well with the threat of Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins, both of whom found it hard to get into the game.
Although a clean sheet eluded the home side, it was an encouraging defensive display on the back of conceding nine goals in their last three Premier League games.
Some Spurs fans liked the look of the Romero-Dier partnership, with many reserving special praise for the 23-year-old.
They called on Nuno to give the summer signing a run of games in the starting eleven.
Romero has to start every single game, the best CB at the club by a country mile.

Dier and Romero have been very impressive for me, enjoyed seeing confident strong CBs

Romero is just quite obviously one of the best players in the entire Spurs squad and should be starting every PL game. Enough with the performance roulette of Sanchez and Dier.

I take back anything I said about Cristian Romero.
He was unreal today and should be playing every game this season.
The art is to find his most suitable partner.

Romero and Emerson should be starting every game, Emerson is solid and doesn't mak fools mistakes, Romero always tackle with no fear, he's a beast

Proud of that performance. Royal is my starting RB now, as much as I like Tanganga. Romero has to play every game and Gil should be used earlier and more regularly imo. Hate seeing him come on so late #COYS

Spurs Web Opinion
Dier and Romero complement each other quite well due to their different styles. Given Romero’s keenness to step up and win the ball, he needs someone who is composed and experienced beside him and while it is still early days, the partnership certainly seems promising.
