‘Have a feeling’ – Mark Lawrenson predicts Tottenham vs West Ham score

Mark Lawrenson has predicted that West Ham United will consign Tottenham to their third consecutive loss on Sunday.

Spurs will be looking to get back to winning ways as they return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the back of a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Leicester City and a 1-0 loss to AC Milan in the first leg of the Champions League round of sixteen.

The Lilywhites are without several of their key players, with Hugo Lloris, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon and Yves Bissouma out with long-term injuries but they will be able to welcome back Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who was suspended for the clash at the San Siro.

Assistant coach Cristian Stellini will once again oversee preparations and take charge on the sidelines on Sunday, with Spurs confirming on Thursday that Antonio Conte will continue to recover from his gallbladder surgery at his family home in Italy.

Lawrenson believes that the Hammers will emerge with all three points from the London derby, thus handing their local rivals a major blow in their pursuit of Champions League qualification.

The pundit told Paddy Power: “Who knows which Tottenham team are going to turn up? The one in the Champions League had lots of changes and they could have lost more than 1-0 to AC Milan.

“Obviously, they were thrashed by Leicester at the weekend so they’re in a bit of a mess at the moment. Antonio Conte’s been making eyes at Serie A again so it feels like he’s off at the end of the season.

“West Ham were outplayed by Chelsea in the first half on Saturday but managed to hang on in there. I just have a feeling West Ham will win here.”

Tottenham 1-2 West Ham.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think a single Spurs fan can claim to be confident heading into the game despite the fact that West Ham are just above the drop zone. However, the manner in which Skipp and Sarr stood up at the San Siro gives me some optimism for the weeks ahead.
