‘Have a sneaky feeling’ – Pundit predicts the score for Chelsea vs Tottenham

Chris Sutton expects Tottenham to come away with all three points from Stamford Bridge as Antonio Conte’s men have too much firepower for the Chelsea backline to handle.

Spurs go into the London derby full of confidence after coming from a goal down to thrash Southampton 4-1 in their Premier League season opener.

What will inspire even more confidence among the Tottenham ranks is the fact they managed to put the Saints to the sword even though neither Harry Kane nor Son Heung-min got on the scoresheet.

Chelsea, meanwhile, looked extremely rusty at Goodison Park last Sunday and managed to crawl to a 1-0 win courtesy of a Jorginho penalty.

Sutton believes that despite losing three times to Thomas Tuchel’s men in quick succession in January, Conte will be relishing the chance to lock horns with his former employers on Sunday.

The former Celtic man insisted that Chelsea will find it hard to stop Tottenham when the possession gets turned over.

The pundit told BBC Sport: “Chelsea love playing Spurs – they beat them four times last season, and Tottenham have only beaten them once in the league at Stamford Bridge since February 1990.

“Spurs boss Antonio Conte was in charge of Chelsea for that defeat – in April 2018 – but I have a sneaky feeling he will enjoy this meeting a lot more.

“Chelsea got a good win at Everton, but the way they got it was not particularly pretty. If they are slightly off it again on Sunday, they won’t get away with it.

“Tottenham, meanwhile, were devastating in attack against Southampton and I am expecting more of the same from them here.

“Add in Conte going back to Stamford Bridge, and I am going to go with Spurs to take the points.

“They took the game to Saints anyway, but they also counter-attack so well when that turnover happens. When they get the ball into Kane with runners off him, they are so hard to stop.”

Prediction 1-2 to Tottenham

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite the abundance of attacking talent on display, this game might not be a very entertaining affair for neutrals as both managers will approach the game with caution. Given that both sides play a very similar system, there is a possibility of the two sides cancelling each other out but the tactical battle could prove fascinating.
