‘Have to build on this win’ – Kane, Sessegnon and co react to 4-0 win over Red Star

Tottenham’s 4-0 hammering of Red Star Belgrade last night was just what the doctor ordered given the team’s recent struggles away from home. This was Spurs’ first away win in all competitions since the win over Ajax in the second leg of last season’s Champions League semifinal.

Mauricio Pochettino decided to start summer signings Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso together for the first time and the pair produced some brilliant football going forward.

The Lilywhites were in complete control of the game right from kick off and, barring a couple of chances on the break for Red Star, the Spurs defence was predominantly untroubled.

Several Spurs stars have now taken to social media to express their delight at the victory. While Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko praised the team’s performance, Dele Alli urged the players to build on this result.

Meanwhile, summer signing Ryan Sessegnon, who came off the bench and set up Christian Eriksen’s goal, also revealed his delight at getting his first taste of Champions League football.

Giovani Lo Celso was a fresh of breath air today both on and off the ball. While his quality in possession is there for all to see, his work rate and willingness to close down the opposition made a huge difference to the team. The 23-year-old certainly deserves to keep his place in the side for the clash against Sheffield United on Saturday.
