‘Have to give it to them’ – West Ham star lauds form of three ‘frightening’ Spurs players

Michail Antonio has praised the way Tottenham have been performing lately and singled out the ‘frightening’ displays of Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski.

Antonio Conte’s side have hit a strong patch of form heading into the run-in, winning four of their last five Premier League games to lift them into the top four.

Spurs’ latest display yielded a confident 5-1 win over Newcastle which helped them overtake rivals Arsenal, who suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Despite going 1-0 down to the Magpies, Spurs rallied to score four goals in the second half with the firepower of Kane, Son and January signing Kulusevski doing the damage.

And West Ham striker Antonio could not help but give his praise to the way the attacking trio have clicked under Conte.

He said on The Footballer’s Football Podcast (07/04/22): “You know what Spurs have been on fire. I’m going to have to give it to them. They have been on fire.

“Conte has got them playing really well. You guys [speaking to Newcastle’s Callum Wilson] can’t really be disheartened by that performance or being beaten that way.

“One thing with Spurs, their front three are frightening. The way they counter is unbelievable. How quick they can get from one end to the other side.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs were devastating against Newcastle, particularly in the second half when the game opened up. The front men were linking up really well and their quality was ultimately too much for Newcastle to deal with, especially on the counter-attack.

Conte has got them playing well together and there is no reason why this strong form can’t continue for the rest of the campaign.
