Some Tottenham Hotspur fans are concerned that Davinson Sanchez’s confidence would have taken a hit after Colombia were thumped 6-1 by Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
Sanchez had a difficult few weeks at Spurs leading up to the international break.
Although Jose Mourinho backed him publicly after his own goal against West Ham, which set the tone for Tottenham’s late collapse against the Hammers, the defender has not played a single minute in the Premier League since.
In fact, Mourinho has opted to name new signing Joe Rodon on the bench ahead of Sanchez, with the former Ajax man missing out on the matchday squad against Burnley, Brighton and West Brom respectively.
The 24-year-old would have been hoping to regain a bit of momentum and confidence on international duty but things did not go according to plan for Colombia.
Carlos Queiroz’s men suffered two embarrassing defeats, first being brushed aside 3-0 by Uruguay before being torn to pieces by Ecuador.
The Tottenham defender has been linked with a move away from North London in January (Don Balon) and some Spurs fans admitted that they would not mind seeing him leave, while others felt sorry for the defender after the result.
Davinson Sanchez’ confidence must be in pieces. Honestly I’d loan him out

Davinson Sanchez just shipped four goals in 45 minutes. But there’s people in this fanbase that still think he should be at the club,…..

If liverpool do come in for him then we should sell him..Sanchez is a good player but he always panics and makes mistakes under pressure. https://t.co/FRezBMphuu

Not good at all. I really do think we sometimes forget that players are human beings and they could be going through life issues and battles that we know nothing about. I wish Davinson nothing but the best. https://t.co/v3RENl8zrz

Blokes having a rough season, shame as he’s still only 24 and was really promising when we signed him. Would have to replace him with a good prospect because we can’t afford to lose defenders right now https://t.co/CyLRWFr6M0
