‘He can only be better’ – Jose Mourinho reveals what he expects of summer signing

It has been a difficult start to the season for Tottenham’s Joe Rodon after the central defender joined from Swansea Cty at the end of the EFL summer transfer window.

Unfortunately, Rodon linked up with the Spurs team after the Europa League squad for the group stages had been announced, meaning he was unable to play in any of the matches.

Not only this, but Rodon is also cup-tied in the Carabao Cup, ruling out another competition for him to feature in during the early months of the season.

However, the Welsh centre-back has now started to earn some minutes on the pitch in North London, featuring in five Premier League matches this season.

Rodon started and completed 90 minutes against Sheffield United last time out, while also playing the full game against Marine FC in the FA Cup (TransferMarkt).

Jose Mourinho has now claimed that he is happy with Rodon’s desire and believes that he can only get better in the future.

He said (Football London): “Joe has a lot to learn but at the same time he has a lot of potential, he has great desire and I am really happy.

“We played him not many matches, unfortunately, he was not in the Europa League matches which would have given him more matches and experience, but in the times we have paid him the answer was positive so we are happy with Joe and we believe that he can be only better.”
