‘He can’t even lift his head up’ – Dele Alli lifts lid on Heung Min Son’s reaction to horror injury

Tottenham Hotspur star, Heung Min Son, is apparently devastated after he was sent off for a challenge on Andre Gomes that resulted in a horror injury today.

Spurs took on Everton at Goodison Park in their second visit to Merseyside in a week, with Son starting on the right-wing and Gomes in central midfield for the Toffees.

Tottenham eventually took the lead in the second half of what was a pretty poor match from both struggling sides, at which point Spurs looked to defend for the clean sheet.

When Gomes picked up the ball on the left-hand side for Everton, Son looked to bring him down to stop any progress, but caused far more damage than he intended.

Hitting Gomes’ ankle caused the player’s leg to jar into the ground, with the cameras not showing the extent on the damage.

However, Son was left shaking and in tears after looking down on the screaming Gomes, while other onlooking players could hardly watch.

Dele Alli has now revealed how Son is doing (Daily Star): “Son is devastated, he’s in tears but it’s not his fault.

“He’s one of the nicest people you would want to meet and he’s not like that.

“He can’t even lift his head up he’s crying that much in the dressing room.”

He added: “The injury does play on your mind but you have to stay professional.

“We switched off for a second and they scored.

“We have to keep believing as a team. The quality will come through.”
