Thomas Frank has insisted that David Raya will not be sold for less than £40m despite the goalkeeper’s agent warning that his client will leave for free next summer if Brentford do not bring down their asking price.
Raya continues to be heavily linked with a move to Tottenham ahead of the summer transfer window, with Football Insider reporting earlier this week that the North London club have identified the Spaniard as their top choice to take over the gloves from Hugo Lloris.
Italian journalist Rudy Galetti also told GiveMeSport a few days ago that Spurs were the frontrunners to snap up the 27-year-old this summer.
However, The Daily Mail reported recently that Tottenham are only willing to pay £20m for the goalkeeper, who has one year left to run on his contract at the Brentford Community Stadium, while the Bees value their number one at £40m.
On Wednesday, Raya’s agent Jaume Munell even warned the West London club that unless they lowered their asking price, his client would walk away for free in 12 months (Fabrizio Romano).
However, Frank has now insisted that the Spain international would only be leaving Brentford on their terms.

The Dane told The Athletic: “I think we only have one player for sale. That’s the one that’s been talked about a lot, David. He costs £40m, I think I said.
“We are a selling club. I don’t think that’s a secret. But they need to be crazy high amounts for the players for anyone to leave.
“I’m pretty sure that everyone, including myself, is very happy here at Brentford.”

One would expect Brentford to soften their stance over the coming weeks and months as they are not in a position of strength, given the goalkeeper’s contract situation.
