‘He didn’t wanna address it’ – Pundit suggests Spurs regular could be tempted to leave

Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has claimed that Hugo Lloris could be tempted to move to Paris Saint-Germain if the French giants come calling due to the loyalty he has towards Mauricio Pochettino.

It was Pochettino who made Lloris the club captain at Tottenham and even though the Frenchman was struggling for form on a couple of occasions, the former Spurs boss continued to show faith in him.

However, Lloris’ form has undoubtedly improved since the arrival of Jose Mourinho at the club wth the former Lyon man seems to have eradicated the errors he used to make from time to time.

Mourinho even recently referred to the France number one as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.

Some reports have indicated that Pochettino could try to tempt Lloris to Paris but it has also been suggested that Tottenham are determined to hold on to their number one.

Bent revealed that when he interviewed Lloris, the Tottenham captain refused to talk about Mourinho out of his respect for his predecessor.

Bent claimed that could be a worrying sign for the North Londoners as it indicates where Lloris’ loyalties lie.

The former England striker told Football Insider: “We know how much players loved him at Spurs. I did an interview with Hugo Lloris and I tried to touch on the impact that Mourinho’s had coming in on the players’ mindset and he didn’t wanna address it at all because they’ve all got this loyal relationship with Pochettino.

“He took them to a Championship League final and he absolutely loves them too. So I think that might be a slight concern: him going to PSG, one of the richest teams about, him being French as well and getting on in age. He’s probably thinking ‘I wouldn’t mind maybe going there.’

“If Poch gives them a phone call, how can you turn down Champions League football and the chance to go and work with someone that took you to the next level, believed in you.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There has been a lot of talk about new contracts for the likes of Kane and Son but tying Lloris down to a new deal should be a bigger priority for Spurs at the moment as the Frenchman will just have one year left on his deal at the end of the season. Given the form he has been in, there will almost certainly be clubs trying to poach him away from us in the summer.
