‘He doesn’t care at all’ – West Ham player explains why he likes one Spurs star

West Ham United’s Michael Antonio has praised Richarlison for the manner in which he celebrates his goals, while not caring about how it may be perceived.

The Brazilian finally scored his first Premier League goal for Tottenham last Sunday, netting the equaliser at Anfield in the dying moments of the game as the away side came from three goals down to level the match.

Unfortunately, it did not make any difference to the result as Diogo Jota was gifted a stoppage-time winner following a loose pass from Lucas Moura.

However, the relief was palpable on Richarlison’s face when he scored as the Tottenham man took his shirt off and celebrated demonstrably with the away section before shushing the home crowd.

The 25-year-old was booked for taking his shirt off and bizarrely, he has actually been yellow-carded more times for celebrating goals this season than he has actually scored in the Premier League (The Sun).

Antonio said that he admired Richarlison’s boldness in celebrating in that manner despite having several goals chopped off for offside this season.

The Hammers striker said on the Footballer’s Football Podcast about the Tottenham man: “He’s scored four times this season.

“Three of the times, he’s been offside – he’s taken his top off four times this season! Even his goal the other day was so close to being offside!

“This man, I swear to you, I rate him because he doesn’t care at all.

“You’ve done it four times this season, three times of the four, you’ve been offside.

“You’ve taken your top off three times of the four and been offside, going nuts. I rate him!”

Had Richarlison’s goal on Sunday been ruled out for offside, the forward might have just given up and wondered if he had been cursed this season.

Hopefully, that header opens the floodgates in front of goal for the 25-year-old.
