Harry Redknapp has opined that Ange Postecoglou’s strength does not lie in coaching but rather his ability as a man-manager, with the Australian being adept at getting the best of his players.
Many eyebrows were raised when Tottenham decided to turn to Postecoglou last summer, given that he had not coached at the highest level of the game.
However, Daniel Levy and co have evidently hit the jackpot with the 58-year-old, who has proved the perfect man for the job so far, helping completely transform the mood around the club.
Not only has Postecoglou delivered the sort of attacking football that Spurs fans had been craving but he has also said all the right things to the media, which has certainly played a huge part in getting supporters onside.

Harry Redknapp claims Ange Postecoglou is not a coach
The 58-year-old is now building a talented, young squad at N17, with there being a lot of excitement surrounding the club, but Redknapp believes that the Spurs head coach’s success has little to do with tactics and is primarily down to his motivational skills.
The former Tottenham manager told iNews: “I hear too many young coaches, when kids try to do something different and beat someone and show skill, they get a rollicking: ‘Pass it! Move the ball quicker!’ No, let’s see you do something with the ball.
“Go and beat someone – let’s see individual talent coming through. There’s not enough of it. No disrespect, the guy at Tottenham ain’t a coach. He doesn’t coach, Ange, but he’s a motivator. He understands getting the best out of people.”

One can certainly make the case that Postecoglou’s bigger strength is his ability to manage players but the days of managers who rely purely on their motivational qualities are well and truly over.
All managers these days have to be good training ground coaches and Ange certainly has very clear and distinct tactical ideas.
