‘He feels ready’ – Journalist makes claim about Tottenham manager target

Dutch journalists Etienne Verhoeff and Johan Inan have talked up the chances of Arne Slot leaving Feyenoord this summer, admitting that the Eredivisie club are expecting interest from the Premier League in their head coach.

The Independent reported last week that while Tottenham remain focussed on persuading Julian Nageslmann to replace Antonio Conte, the North London club are expected to turn their attention to Slot if their move for the German falls through.

Tottenham’s interest in the 44-year-old was also backed up by ESPN, who reported on Monday that the Feyenoord boss is emerging as a ‘serious contender’ to take the Spurs job, alongside Nagelsmann.

The publication explained that the Lilywhites regret passing up on Erik Ten Hag back in 2021 due to his lack of experience in a top league and do not want to repeat the same mistake with Slot.

Verhoeff has now revealed that Feyenoord are nervous about losing their head coach at the end of the season.

He told Feyenoord Pings: “Yes, I think they are holding their breath too, they have every reason to.”

Meanwhile, Inan suggested that the Dutch coach is likely to leave De Kuip in the summer if a decent Premier League club comes calling.

He told the publication: “I have been getting the feeling with Slot for some time that if a nice English club comes along that he feels ready for it, for a top league.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Nagelsmann is evidently Tottenham’s top target, I am personally torn on who I would prefer between Slot and Kompany if the move for the German falls through.

I am actually leaning towards the latter owing to his leadership skills and his understanding of the Premier League.
