‘He goes really really mad’ – Spurs star reveals Postecoglou’s mood over recent weeks

Dejan Kulusevski has admitted that the Tottenham players have witnessed the angry side of Ange Postecoglou on a few occasions, with the Australian not afraid of letting the players know if he feels they are playing it too safe.

While Postecoglou has become popular among the English media by presenting his humourous side in his first few months at Tottenham, the Spurs boss has now shown a much more serious and firm side to him in recent weeks in light of his side’s poor displays.

The 58-year-old, who has generally been quite complimentary of his players so far, was quite scathing of their performance in his post-match press conference after their loss to Wolves on Saturday (Football.London).

Postecoglou is not afraid to get angry at Spurs stars

Kuluseveski has revealed that the former Celtic man gives an earful to the players privately if they are not sticking to his game plan, with the Swede insisting that the Tottenham boss’s words often jolt the team into a reaction.

The winger told The Sun about Postecoglou: “He gets angry for sure. There have been a couple of half-times when he thinks we’re not doing enough, playing safe and not pushing enough to win the game and then he lets us hear it.

“He goes really, really mad. But we always play better afterwards so it works! It is not fun but it is part of the job, you cannot always just give love to players sometimes you have to be hard on them like parents do. It is not scary because it helps us in the end.”

While Ange is someone who gives the players the freedom to express themselves and is not one to criticise them when they make mistakes trying to be positive, he is also evidently quite uncompromising in his principles.

When the players sometimes hesitate to take the brave option and play within themselves, you can see him fuming on the touchline.
