Archie Gray is catching the eye at Tottenham

A lot of the spotlight has been on Lucas Bergvall during pre-season, with the Swede surprising many with the ease at which he has stepped up to this level.

Gray’s displays have thus gone under the radar a bit, with the 18-year-old quietly impressing in a number of different positions across the various friendlies.

Could Archie Gray start against Leicester?

The former Leeds man may have to be fast-tracked into the starting eleven against the Foxes as Yves Bissouma has been suspended by Tottenham after the Mali international posted a video of himself inhaling nitrous oxide (Guardian).

When asked if the 27-year-old’s suspension may open the door for Gray to get a start, Postecoglou told Football.London: “Yeah, Archie has settled in really well. Again, great kid but a really, strong mindset. We’ve asked him to play different positions, but he’s handled it really well.

“Part of the attraction of bringing someone like Archie to our club, and it is the case for a number of players we’ve brought in, is he can play more than one position, so when it’s required, we can use him in those areas.

“He is going really well, I am really happy with him and he has every chance to play on Monday.”

Postecoglou will likely start with a midfield three of Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Sarr and James Maddison, with Gray and Bergvall likely starting on the bench.

However, one or both of those youngsters could come on for their debuts later in the game.
