‘He has to improve’ – Nuno gives assessment of Kane and Ndombele ahead of Chelsea

Nuno Espirito Santo has provided assessments of Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele ahead of Tottenham’s London derby against Chelsea this weekend.

Spurs welcome the Champions League holders to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday as they look to bounce back from an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last time out.

Harry Kane missed pre-season and the opener against Man City but has been involved ever since, although the Spurs vice-captain is yet to score a Premier League goal this season.

Ndombele was also absent throughout pre-season and only made his first appearance on Thursday against Rennes in the Europa Conference League.

However, the Frenchman was arguably the most impressive player on the pitch for Spurs, perhaps playing his way into contention for the Chelsea game.

Ahead of the match, Nuno claimed that Harry Kane has to improve, while Spurs needed to be patient with Ndombele after just his first run out of the campaign.

On Kane, he said (Football London): “His quality, talent. I think he has to improve. We are in that process of trying to find the best levels of fitness. His dedication has been huge.”

On Ndombele, he added: “It was his first game Tanguy was involved in since the beginning of the season,

“We had all the pre-season and we are already playing Premier League and European competition and it was Tanguy’s first game so let’s be patient.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would definitely start Ndombele against Chelsea this weekend in a midfield three with Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. I would then push Dele up to centre-forward just behind Kane to get him in front of goal a bit more, alongside one other attacker, depending who is fit.
