‘He is at peace’ – Ian Wright makes prediction about Kane staying at Spurs

Ian Wright has said that Harry Kane appears to be at peace with the idea of staying at Tottenham but the former Arsenal man suggested that he is exactly the player that Manchester United need to take them to the next level.

On the back of Kane making history on Sunday by becoming Tottenham’s highest-ever goalscorer and joining Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney in the Premier League 200 club, the conversation has predictably once again shifted to whether the striker should leave his boyhood club.

Reports over recent weeks have indicated that Manchester United and Bayern Munich want to sign the 29-year-old next summer (Sky Sports) while other sources have suggested that Spurs are optimistic that he will sign a new deal (Ben Jacobs on Football Tranfers).

In his Daily Mail column this week, Danny Murphy suggested that Kane should join Bayern Munich if he has the chance to do so in the summer, insisting that winning trophies would be more valuable for the striker than clinching the Premier League goals record from Alan Shearer.

Wright has suggested that Kane is now at a crossroads in his career and added that he is the man Erik Ten Hag needs to fast-track his project at Old Trafford.

When asked about the Tottenham man’s future, the pundit told Premier League Productions (06/02/23 at 2:15 pm): “It’s going to be interesting to see what happens now. It seems to me like, in his mind, he is at peace at maybe staying at Tottenham.

“There is a lot to be read into the contract talk ‘I am ready to sign for the rest of my career’. Or is that a call to other people by saying ‘if you are going to come, then this is the time to come?’

“This is why he is at a real crux position in his career now. The next deal is either go to Manchester United. The mere fact that they have taken Weghorst on loan, I was watching the game the other day.

“I’m looking at it and thinking ‘I can’t understand how that’s going to work’. Even with the link-up and attacking the box. I am not seeing it.

“There is a place there for someone like Kane. If he’s got serious intentions of trying to win something with Man United and the way they are playing now. I know they are coming, because they are coming.

“With Harry Kane, it speeds that up. If he went at Man United, he would definitely score 20 goals a season.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is still a long way to go this season and it is by no means guaranteed that Manchester United are going to finish above Tottenham. Unless Ten Hag’s men finish at least 10 points clear of Spurs, I do not see why Kane would be tempted to move to Old Trafford as he would certainly not be guaranteed to win titles with the Red Devils.
