Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League journey so far

After a hiatus of more than a month from Europa League action, Tottenham Hotspur are poised to return to the continental stage this Thursday.

This marks their seventh fixture in the competition, a match that holds immense significance as the North London side battles to secure a top-eight finish and avoid the play-off rounds.

Tottenham’s form in the Europa League has been far from convincing in recent games. Ange Postecoglou’s men have managed to take just two points from a possible nine in their last three European outings, leaving them positioned in ninth place, just outside the automatic qualification zone.

The Lilywhites need consecutive victories in their remaining matches if they are to finish in the top eight, with favourable results elsewhere being an added requirement.

Speaking ahead of the clash, the manager addressed the squad’s fitness issues, offering insights into the team’s preparations.

Ange Postecoglou’s team news update ahead of Hoffenheim clash

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou shared vital information about his squad’s condition ahead of Thursday’s Europa League showdown.

The Tottenham boss confirmed that Sergio Reguilón and Djed Spence would be unavailable, alongside concerns over Pape Matar Sarr, who sustained a slight knock during the weekend’s domestic match.

Postecoglou told football.london: “From the weekend, Reggy and Djed are not available and Pape Matar Sarr, he’s got a slight knock from the weekend. We got Bentancur back. Romero was back in training but has not travelled. He is not ready yet.”

Bissouma and Sarr could be ready for the weekend clash against Leicester City

While the absence of Sergio Reguilón and Djed Spence is undoubtedly a setback, there are reasons for cautious optimism regarding the fitness of other key players.

Both Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma are believed to have avoided serious injuries, with Postecoglou hinting at their potential availability for the upcoming weekend.

The manager said: he’s hoping Sarr and potentially Bissouma could be back for the weekend.
