‘He is one of the best keepers in the world’ -Pochettino on Lloris’ current form

Tottenham Hotspur cruised to victory against Southampton last night at Wembley, but were it not for some Hugo Lloris heroics, the score could have looked a little less comfortable.

Spurs missed out on a North London derby victory at the weekend, but three points against the Saints will go a long way to washing the bitter taste out their mouths.

Especially when you see that Tottenham have now actually leapfrogged both Arsenal and Chelsea back into third place in the Premier League.

Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw away to Man United, and Chelsea dropped points in a 2-1 loss to Wolves.

Spurs may have had some problems of their own if it wasn’t for captain Hugo Lloris last night, with the Frenchman on top form.

Lloris made a number of fine fingertip saves in the first half, included one that just about edged the ball onto the woodwork and back out.

In the second half he followed up by making an outstanding double save, including a point blank rebound.

Football London report Poch had this to say on his captain: “Look for me Hugo, playing well or sometimes not so well, for me is one of the best keepers in the world but I back him because after four and a half years working together I know the condition and quality of him and today is not a surprise for me. When he wasn’t great, I think always I am going to back him because I know the quality of keeper I have.”
