‘He is providing everything’ – Cristian Romero on the influence Postecoglou has had on him

Cristian Romero has really stepped up this season, and appears to be enjoying life under Ange Postecoglou. Now, the defender has spoken about the impact his new manager has had at the club.

When Ange Postecoglou arrived at Tottenham last summer, it’s safe to say expectations were pretty low. After last season’s eight-placed finish, and the sale of Harry Kane, many had expected the Lilywhites to struggle this term.

However, with 12 games to go, Spurs are currently fifth in the Premier League and are right in the fight for a place in the top four.

Throughout the squad, players are shining brighter than ever before, and Cristian Romero is certainly one of those to benefit from Postecoglou’s arrival. Handed the vice-captaincy by the Australian, the centre-half has added a level of calm and composure to his game this year, as well as goals, too.

Cristian Romero loves playing for Ange Postecoglou

Speaking in the recent matchday programme for the Crystal Palace game (via Football.London), Romero was asked about the influence Postecoglou has had on him and the club in general,

He said: “He’s a great coach and I’m enjoying things greatly under him. He has a great playing style and his tactical ideas are very good. We’re all enjoying it and buying into the way he plays.

“The fact that the club did this shows it’s another step in the right direction, he is providing everything we need to make this step.

“Winning depends on a lot of things, not just the team and the staff, making sure the club as a whole is on the right road. He’s given me the hope that I can continue myself and become a better player.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Romero has gone above and beyond for Spurs this season, and I think it’s fair to say that a large part of that improvement in his overall game is down to the trust Postecoglou has put in him.
