Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez has warned that his Algerian international teammate Youcef Atal who is rumoured to be a target for Tottenham must look to improve his attitude.

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for Atal last summer (DZ Football) but the full-back ended up staying put at Nice.

The defender has failed to recreate the same form he showed in Ligue 1 due to a knee injury he picked up in December.

Reports have still backed the Lilywhites might once again return for the full-back when the transfer market opens (BILD).

It has been suggested that Nice are trying to sign Young Boys right-back Jordan Lotomba as a replacement for Atal as they expect to lose him this summer (Le10Sport).

Speaking to BeIN Sports during an Instagram Q&A, the Algerian said: “If he (Atal) is not too stupid he can have a great career, but he is too carefree at the moment.”

Spurs Web Opinion

A lot of Spurs fans on social media seem to think Atal will be a world-class signing based only on a few youtube compilations they have seen. In reality, the step up from Ligue 1 to the Premier League is considerable and there are no guarantees that he will be a success. I believe Max Aarons would be a much more promising acquisition than Atal.
