‘He is very open’ – Why people are wrong to write off Marcos Senesi to Tottenham

Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed Marcos Senesi’s stance on his future after Tottenham Hotspur stepped up their efforts to sign the centre-back.

It first emerged earlier this week that Tottenham had begun talks with Senesi’s agent regarding a free transfer to N17.

The Argentine, whose contract with Bournemouth ends in June, has his heart set on a big move, and reports indicate that the Spurs target wants to agree a move to a new club before the end of the season.

On Friday, David Ornstein revealed that Tottenham had moved into pole position to land Senesi, who was willing to move to the North London club if they remain in the Premier League.

Marcos Senesi is ‘very open’ to Tottenham move

In his update, Ornstein revealed that Spurs are holding advanced talks but warned that no deal has been finalised with the centre-back, adding that the Cherries star’s situation remains ‘open’.

Ben Jacobs has now handed Tottenham a boost by revealing that neither Chelsea nor Liverpool has made a move for Senesi yet, and revealed that the 28-year-old is open to moving to N17.

The journalist told The United Stand: “My information on Marcos Senesi is that, contrary to reports, Chelsea are not currently active on bringing him in. Liverpool have discussed him, but there’s nothing formal there yet.

“People are writing Tottenham off at this stage, but he is very open to joining them if they stay in the Premier League. To Manchester United, possible but nothing to get excited about.”

Why Sensi is a tempting option for Spurs

Reports indicate that Cristian Romero will leave Tottenham even if they avoid relegation, while sources continue to suggest that Micky van de Ven could also be on his way out of Spurs.

While Luka Vuskovic has been touted to be a starter for Tottenham next season, De Zerbi will want to add some experience to his backline.

If they manage to land Senesi, the Lilywhites will be getting a proven Premier League performer, who could make an immediate impact while not at all denting their summer transfer budget.
