Tottenham had a pretty solid transfer window all things considered as not only did they manage to make some top signings but they also retained all of their big-name stars.
While the squad now looks more evenly balanced and fairly deep, there are still some areas that might still be a cause for concern including the right back spot.
Tottenham sold Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid following the England international’s poor displays last season.
Serge Aurier was also linked with a move away from the club in the final few days of the window (Sun) and there was thus worries that Tottenham could be left short in the position with young Kyle Walker-Peters the only other natural right back at Spurs.
The Ivorian ended up staying at the club beyond the deadline but he has now made some explosive comments which haven’t gone down well with Spurs fans.
Speaking to Bal des Productions, Aurier admitted that he wanted to leave the club this summer but claimed that the club blocked the move.
When quizzed on the competition for places at Spurs, the 26-year-old reportedly responded, “What competition? There is no competition”.
The comment has angered some Spurs fans on social media who suggested that his days at the club might now be numbered.
Aurier on his competition at right-back. “What competition? There isn’t any. I’d simply decided to leave, In the end, I wasn’t able. It proves the club trust me on a lot of points.”https://t.co/5BK33zdwe6

Even after his recent quotes I'd still have Aurier start over our other options

No statement has been more beneficial to KWP’s career than this

His media skills are on par with his throw-in ability.

The point is that Aurier was dropped because he wants to leave, not because any petty vendetta on the manager’s behalf. Absolutely happy for him to stay on the bench anyway because he’s shite.

Spurs Web Opinion
These comments are extremely poor from Aurier as it shows a complete lack of respect for Kyle Walker-Peters. I still believe that Aurier is the most talented full back at the club but unless he apologizes unconditionally for these comments, Pochettino will likely not pick him again.
