‘He killed me’ – Reguilon reveals Spurs teammate didn’t like his Panenka penalty in training

Sergio Reguilon has revealed that Joe Hart reacted angrily to him attempting a Panenka penalty against him during Tottenham training.

Hart spent just one season at Spurs in a bit-part role and left the club at the end of last season to join Celtic.

Despite his brief time in North London, the 34-year-old still brought a wealth of experience and a winning mentality to the Spurs dressing room from his successful years with Man City and England.

The Spaniard has now shared a story where he ended up on Hart’s bad side one day during a training session.

Reguilon attempted a Panenka penalty against the former England star but ended up receiving a barrage of anger and frustration from the veteran goalkeeper, who complained of his lack of seriousness by comparing it to a match scenario.

He told 433: “One time, I did this in a training session with Joe Hart, and he killed me. You know the Panenka? I understand now. He said: ‘What are you doing? This isn’t training, this is like a match. Are you serious?'”

Hart made 10 appearances during his stint at Spurs, but all came in cup competitions away from the Premier League (Transfermarkt).

Hart was one of those players that was brought in to be a good voice and influence in the dressing room, particularly for younger players. His demeanour also means he was likely to be pretty serious at all times, and this incident saw Reguilon caught out on the receiving end.
